Chart patterns, detected automatically.

A detector checks the price history of every watched stock each night for five clearly defined formations: double bottom, double top, golden cross, range breakout and volatility squeeze. Every find comes with a chart, a validity window and the geometry it rests on.

The five formations

Which chart patterns we detect.

Five formations, each geometrically defined and therefore reproducibly checkable. What they mean and what the detector pins them to.

01

Double bottom

The price bounced off a similar low twice, with a rally in between. This W-shaped pattern is a classic reversal signal from a downtrend into an uptrend.

The detector requires two lows at a similar level with sufficient distance and an interim high whose height must sit in a fixed ratio to the range. Only when the price clears that interim high is the pattern confirmed. A double bottom is a geometric finding, not a forecast.

02

Golden Cross

The 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day moving average. This is one of the best-known long-term trend-following signals in technical analysis.

The 50-day moving average crosses the 200-day average from below. Because both averages smooth long periods, the signal arrives late but rarely produces false positives. The opposite, where the short average crosses downward, is known as a death cross.

03

Double top

The price failed at a similar high twice, with a pullback in between. This M-shaped pattern is a classic reversal signal from an uptrend into a downtrend.

The mirror image of the double bottom: two highs at a similar level, an interim low, and confirmation only when that low breaks. As with all reversal patterns, the formation can dissolve before confirmation, which is why every find carries a validity window.

04

Range breakout

The price has broken out of a longer sideways range (support and resistance) to the upside or downside. In technical analysis, this is read as a signal that a new trend is starting in the breakout direction.

This requires a recognisable sideways range over a minimum period, bounded by support and resistance. If the price leaves it on notable volume, the breakout is logged together with the level at which it happened. Without volume confirmation the breakout counts as unconfirmed.

05

Volatility squeeze

Price swings had compressed unusually tight beforehand (volatility near a low) and are now releasing into a stronger move. Technical analysis views such tight phases as often preceding a bigger move.

A stock's volatility is measured against its own history. If it sits unusually tight and then widens sharply, the detector reports a squeeze release. The formation says nothing about direction: it marks the shift from calm to movement, not where the movement leads.

How Market Jury detects chart patterns

A detector checks the price history of every stock in the funnel each day for 5 clearly defined geometric formations, from trend continuation to reversal. Each find gets a validity window and is stored with its underlying geometry, traceable down to the individual price bar.

That makes detection transparent and reproducible, but deliberately not a trading signal. The strategy agents base their buy and sell decisions solely on the 11 fundamental scores and their respective rule set.

Chart patterns are a purely technical signal derived from price action. At Market Jury they do not feed into the agents' buy or sell decisions, they are supplementary information only.

Questions and answers

Common questions about chart patterns

What the formations say, how they are detected and where their limits are.

How we detect patterns
What is a double bottom?

A W-shaped reversal pattern: the price bounces twice off a similar low with an interim high between them. Clearing that interim high confirms the pattern, which technical analysis reads as a reversal from a downtrend to an uptrend. Its counterpart is the double top, an M-shaped pattern at a high.

What does a golden cross mean?

The 50-day moving average crosses the 200-day average from below. It is one of the best-known trend-following signals in technical analysis. Because both averages smooth long periods, the signal comes late but is rarely a false alarm. When the short average crosses downward, it is called a death cross.

How are chart patterns detected automatically?

Through fixed geometric conditions, not image recognition. Minimum distances, tolerances and confirmation thresholds are defined for every formation. A detector checks the price series of every watched stock against them each night, and each find is stored with its geometry, traceable to the individual price bar.

Are chart patterns a buy signal?

No. A formation describes what the price has done, not what it will do. The strategy agents decide solely through their own rulebooks; detected patterns are one data point among many. It is neither a buy nor a sell recommendation.

How long does a pattern stay valid?

Every find gets a validity window tied to the formation. If it expires without confirmation, the pattern leaves the list of active formations but stays in the history.

Which stocks are checked for chart patterns?

All stocks the screener holds in its upper stages, those confirmed as notable over days or weeks. Across the whole tradable universe the hit count would make the list unreadable.
