Basis: 13F filings through 2026-08-15. Snapshots as of quarter-end, US-listed long equity positions only, no shorts, no bonds, no options. Reconstructed retroactively, based on information known as of 2026-08-15. Not investment advice.

Basics

What a 13F filing is.

Four points on where the numbers come from, what they show, and where their limits are. Knowing them helps read the tables below correctly.

01

13F is a disclosure rule, not a newsletter

Anyone managing more than 100 million dollars in reportable securities in the US must disclose to the SEC after every quarter which US stocks they hold. That form is called Schedule 13F. It is public and free for anyone to pull, just as a raw file with identifiers instead of names.

02

A snapshot, not a trade log

A 13F shows holdings on the last day of the quarter, reported up to 45 days later. Whatever was bought and sold within the quarter never appears, and neither entry date nor entry price is in the filing. We estimate the quarter's average price and label it as an estimate.

03

US long positions only

Only US-listed long equity positions are reported. Short sales, bonds, cash, commodities and foreign securities are missing. For a fund holding a lot outside the US, a 13F therefore shows a slice of the portfolio, not the strategy.

04

Curated, not complete

Thousands of firms file 13Fs, most of them with hundreds of positions and high turnover. We only take on concentrated funds with low turnover, where a single position carries any signal at all. The criteria for that are set out openly in the methodology.

FAQ

Common questions about 13F filings

Where the data comes from, what it shows, and what it does not show.

What is a 13F filing?

The quarterly report through which large US asset managers must disclose which US stocks they hold. It goes to the SEC and is public. It becomes mandatory above 100 million dollars in reportable securities.

Are 13F filings free to access?

Yes, every filing sits openly in the SEC's EDGAR system. It is barely readable in raw form, though: securities appear as CUSIP numbers and changes from the previous quarter have to be worked out by hand. That is exactly the step the Guru Radar takes off your desk.

How current is the data?

Holdings are as of quarter end, and filing is allowed up to 45 days later. So up to six weeks sit between the cut-off date and the day you see the numbers. That is why the quarter and the filing date are always shown with the figures.

Which stocks does Warren Buffett hold?

Berkshire Hathaway reports its US long book by 13F like any other large manager. The positions and the latest quarter's changes sit on its fund page from the table below. Not included are cash, bonds and holdings outside the US, which make up a considerable part at Berkshire.

What is a cluster signal?

A stock where at least three of the curated funds traded in the same direction in the same quarter, independently of each other. It is the strongest pattern 13F data can yield at all, because it does not hang on one manager's opinion.

Can you simply copy the trades?

You could only copy what has already happened, and up to six weeks later at a different price. The Guru Radar shows movements so they can be followed, and gives no buy or sell recommendations.
